First, the breaking news overnight.

In a late night ruling, a federal judge appointed by President Trump

blocked the deployment of National Guard troops to Portland as President Trump

attempts to send U.S. troops into the city of Chicago as well.

That comes against the objections of the governors of both those states,

so this has never happened before in American history. Our team is live in both Chicago and Portland. I want to start with Trevor Alton, Oregon. Good morning, Trevor.

Well, George, I want to show you here what's actually happening on the ground is essentially a judge said the Trump administration was trying to circumvent her ruling. So behind me here is the ice facility in Portland. and then this is a small encampment of demonstrators outside it. And essentially a judge

has ruled that the president's claim that demonstrators are burning down the city is simply not

reality. She first barred the Trump administration from sending the Oregon National Guard in here,

and now she's barred the administration from sending in the National Guard in any state.

Overnight in a tense Oregon hearing, a federal judge blocking President Trump's attempt to

deploy members of the California National Guard into Portland saying she was troubled by the

Trump administration's attempt to circumvent an order she'd issued just a day earlier.

Trump had already tried to send in Oregon National Guard troops to Portland.

That was halted on Saturday.

The administration then tried on Sunday to send the troops in from California.

Then late last night, Judge Karen Imrigan, a Trump appointee, issued a new broader order,

prohibiting the administration from using federal control to send any state's national guard into Oregon
