0:31.2	Italy has stopped hundreds of asylum seekers from getting off ships and coming ashore.
0:36.5	The first ship at port is run by a
0:39.4	German search and rescue organization called SOS Humanity, and it had 179 people on board. After
0:47.6	Italian authorities conducted medical inspections, they only allowed 144 passengers to disembark, being children and sick or vulnerable people.
0:58.0	That left only men on the ship. The captain of the ship is refusing to leave port until all survivors
1:05.5	rescued from distress at sea have been disembarked. He says what the government is doing is illegal. In a tweet,
1:13.0	he said the law of the sea obliges him to bring all those rescued from distress to a safe place.
1:19.8	A second ship showed up to port last night and the same thing happened. 572 migrants were
1:26.0	on board the ship operated by doctors without borders, yet only
1:29.8	357 were allowed to disembark. There are other ships stuck at sea right now, with no ports
1:37.5	willing to take in the people they rescued from the waters. Many are accusing Italy's new prime
1:42.9	minister, Georgia Maloney, who vowed to crack down
1:45.9	on migrants for this being an inhumane selection process. The captain of the ship that refuses
1:51.6	to leave port plans to launch legal actions against the Italian government today.
