Well, hello there. My name is Morgan Harper Nichols.

I'm an artist and a writer and this is a space where I share poetry and prose that I hope can make a little room for you to slow down just for a moment and take a few deep breaths as you prepare for whatever lies ahead.

Today's piece is called,

It's Time to Make a Choice.

The beautiful thing about being present to this moment in time

is that it's the only space in your life where you get to choose what you focus on.

You can't make that choice for the past and you can't make that choice for the future,

but you can choose what you're going to focus on right now.

Even if your mind is currently crowded with all that is unresolved or not figured out in your life,

even here there is still room to look around you and notice something new.

Even here, there is still room to choose joy even when it comes in its smallest shapes. Even here, there is room to be faithful,

even when you feel like the seeds you're sowing are taking forever to grow. I don't know what choices

you're making right here in the present moment, but I do want to remind you that the fact that you're able to make choices here matters

and it's worth it to take time to figure out what kind of choices you want to make in this

season of your life.

Maybe this is the present moment where you're choosing to go deeper into love.

You're choosing to ask, what does it mean to love unconditionally?

What does it mean to be loved unconditionally?

Maybe this is the present moment where you're choosing peace,

peace beyond understanding. Perhaps recent chaos has made you feel

that peace is impossible. But still, there's this part of you that believes, even here, there can be

room for unity. Even here, there is room to breathe. Maybe this is the space where you choose to kneel down
