| 0:00.0 | It's Monday, March 6, 2023. I'm Albert Molar, and this is the briefing. A daily analysis |
| 0:10.9 | of news and events from a Christian worldview. There are few issues more certain to reach |
| 0:16.5 | the headlines than murder, and in particular a conviction for first-degree murder and two |
| 0:22.2 | murders, two convictions and two life sentences. That's the case in a criminal trial that |
| 0:27.6 | attracted worldwide attention located in South Carolina in recent weeks. Alex Murdoch, and |
| 0:33.5 | of course this is a part of the story. A fourth-generation attorney and prosecutor there in |
| 0:38.9 | South Carolina was found guilty of two counts of premeditated murder in the 2021 murders |
| 0:45.1 | of his wife and one of his two sons. The story began to untangle, and by the time the |

| 1:13.0 | in his law firm. And also there is now suspicion that he was involved in other deaths leading to |
| 1:19.2 | insurance settlements. And as you're looking at this, you recognize this is Shakespearean in its |
| 1:24.3 | form. That's why so many Americans were watching this. That's why so much media attention was given |
| 1:29.0 | to it. The average murder trial in a more rural area of South Carolina normally does not have live |
| 1:36.4 | broadcast on cable news networks. But this one did. And I think from a Christian perspective, |
| 1:41.8 | we need to understand why this particular crime and this particular trial consumed and attracted so |
| 1:48.2 | much of the media oxygen in the United States in recent days. Now you might say it's simply |
| 1:54.0 | because it was sensationalism and salaciousness. And yes, it was there, although looking at this story, |
| 2:00.8 | you do not have the sexual angle that you would have in many other major crimes. So scratch that one |
| 2:07.6 | off the overt list of concern or interest here. But you are dealing with plain old premeditated |
