Tonight the historic heat wave threatening hundreds of millions of Americans as wildfires

rage in the west, the record heat expanding from the Midwest to the mid-Atlantic and up into

the northeast.

Some 270 million people set to experience temperatures 90 degrees or above.

While in California nearly a dozen wildfires burning homes under threat, the new tropical
