Let's start with some espresso shots.

The US jobs market got another report card.

This one reads, sometimes struggles to meet expectations.

Employers added 209,000 jobs in June, less than they expected 240,000.

This continues a 30-month streak of job growth but is also the fewest number of jobs added

during that streak.

Here's some other stats.

Unemployment fell from 3.7% to 3.6%.

Prime age labor participation, the amount of people ages 24 to 54 who are working, rose

to 84.5%, the highest level in 21 years, and wages increased 4.4% from a year ago.

Investors are worried the room temperature report was still warm enough for the federal

reserve to begin raising interest rates again later this month.

The stock market closed down around 1% last week.

Too often we let internally insignificant things like the ups and downs of the stock market

or strength of the economy control our mood and behavior.

Seeking to steward money well is a good thing, but our hope is in Christ, not our finances.
