Today is known as Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the United States,

after years of attempting to make this a national holiday,

it actually became one in the year 1983 when then President

Ronald Reagan signed the legislation. Martin Luther King Jr's birthday is

actually on January the 15th. He was born in the year 1929 on that date. But given

the Uniform Monday Holidays Act passed by Congress that took effect in 1971.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day, like several other holidays,

is observed on the Monday closest to the particular date

of historic meaning.

But nonetheless it is really interesting to note that from time to time we need to go back and
