Let's start our week with the status of January's 8th girl.

No, not Julia Fox, Omicron, obviously.

Not only have cases increase exponentially, but hospitalizations, which are generally

a lagging indicator, have also increased exponentially, specifically among the unvaccinated.

Perhaps the even greater concern is the hospitalization rate among children who aren't yet

eligible for vaccination.

The hospitalization rate hit record highs this week, representing a 48% increase from the

first week of December, and that would be the largest increase in the hospitalization

rate among this group since the beginning of the pandemic.

On Friday afternoon, we got a very important jury verdict.

The three men involved in the killing of Ahmed Arbery last year were sentenced to life.

All three were convicted of aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and criminal attempt

to commit a felony, as well as felony murder for two of the defendants.

Only one of them got the option of parole.

Before the sentencing, the judge began with one minute of silence in the courtroom and

called it a fraction of the time that Ahmed Arbery was running away from his killers.

Their attorneys have said that they will appeal the verdicts.
