We're starting the week with some 2024 election race news.

First, the California Senate.

Representative Barbara Lee announced last week that she's entering the race for Diane Feinstein's seat.

Joining the Democratic primary fields alongside her house colleagues Katie Porter and Adam Schiff.

Got a wonder if that shifts the water cooler vibe.

Right now, Barbara Lee is the highest-ranking black woman in the house and would be the only black woman in the Senate if she were to win the statewide race in 2024.

Representative Lee is best remembered as the sole vote in Congress against the authorization for the use of military force after September 11th, which gave the president authority to use all necessary and appropriate force.

And though she definitely took heat for that at the time, she's continued to fight this issue in Congress to curb presidential war powers and blank checks that fund endless wars.

But whichever Chamber of Congress she ends up in, I would encourage Barbara to make herself a founding member of the I told you so caucus.

While it's been all but formally announced that President Biden intends to run for re-election, self-proclaimed spiritual lady Marianne Williamson announced that she'll also be running in the Democratic presidential primary for 2024.

In a statement that she posted on Facebook and sent to her email subscribers, she said, quote,

Since the election of 2016, it's odd for anyone to think they can know who can win the presidency.

And I'm not putting myself through this again just to add to the conversation.

I'm running for president to help bring an Aboriginal chapter of our history to a close and to help bring forth a new beginning.

Someone needs to inform Marianne that the most Aboriginal part of this chapter is how many delusional quacks think they're electable, just because they're publicists once got them booked on Oprah.
