All right, on to the news. The Seattle police officer who struck and killed graduate student John V.

Condula in a South Lake Union crosswalk last year has been fired. Interim SPD

Chief Sue Rarr announced she fired Officer Kevin Dave today. Dave was going 74 miles an hour

in a 25 mile an hour zone in the South Lake Union area when he hit and killed Condula while

she was in a crosswalk. Seattle Times reports RAR said she fired Dave after the Seattle Office of Police Accountability

found he had violated four department policies concerning emergency responses.

Rar said she believed Dave didn't intend to hurt anyone, but she said she couldn't, quote,

except the tragic consequences of his dangerous driving.

In other news, suspect Richard Sitzlack has pleaded not guilty to killing Metro bus driver Sean Yim last month.

During the hearing today, a King County judge granted a defense request that journalists covering the trial not show Sitzlack's face.

Sitzlack remains in jail accused of first-degree murder and assault.

Sean Yim was working his route in the University District when he was stabbed.
