and today is Monday, December 2nd, 2024. The Core 4. The four headlines you need to know.

Yesterday, President Biden pardoned his son, Hunter Biden. Hunter faced sentencing this month

for federal tax and gun convictions. In a statement, the president said, this is a full and

unconditional pardon, meaning it cannot be

rescinded by President-elect Donald Trump. Biden has repeatedly and publicly said he would not

pardon his son. However, in his pardoning, he said, quote, no reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter's cases can reach any other conclusion

than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son and that is wrong.

End quote.

Hunter's hearings were slated for December 12th and December 16th, and they will likely be canceled.

This may have gotten lost in the craziness of Thanksgiving weekend, but that doesn't mean it's not important. Over the weekend, three Americans who had been arrested and held in China were released in exchange for four Chinese prisoners that were being held here in America.

Both countries have argued that their citizens

were wrongfully arrested by the other nation. The prisoner swap was being worked on for months,

and apparently it got a big boost a couple of weeks ago when Biden met face-to-face with
