| 0:14.0 | Well, here we are with just a week coming before Christmas. |
| 0:17.0 | Christmas Eve comes on Sunday. |
| 0:19.0 | Christmas comes a week from today. |
| 0:21.0 | And for very good and understandable reasons most of us are going to be shifting |
| 0:25.7 | our attention that way as we go through this week certainly by the time we reach the weekend. |
| 0:30.6 | But we do need to recognize right now that as we go into this week there's some massive issues that we have to confront |
| 0:36.3 | And it's almost as if the events are just underlining for us the fact that the world does not take a break |
| 0:42.4 | At Christmas and especially when you're looking at the arena of war. |
| 0:47.0 | And even as you're looking at domestic policy and even as you're looking at the American border in the south, |
| 0:52.0 | there just is no break that is really coming. |
| 0:56.8 | And there are huge stories that are breaking. |
| 0:59.0 | So we need to take a look at several of these, and in a way that's a bit unusual for what I do on a Monday I just |
| 1:04.4 | want to set out a few of these issues because some of them are so big there is just |
| 1:07.8 | no way we can really deal with them today but I'm going to do my best to get to them |

| 1:13.8 | And so we do have to start with the two biggest international stories. |
| 1:17.3 | And of course that means the war right now between Israel and Hamas and in particular in the area of Gaza |
| 1:25.0 | headlines coming out of that and big headlines having to do with issues |
| 1:29.0 | including what in the world the United States really believes about the situation and what American policy really is. |
| 1:36.6 | But we're also going to have to look at Ukraine and oddly enough we're going to end up asking some of the same questions. |
