Big sports weekend. Welcome to Monday. Good morning to all of you. Yes, a very busy start to the week. We have a lot to get to this morning, including the American Airlines flight that was forced to make

an emergency landing after a passenger's device reportedly caught fire just as Labor Day travel

is set to take off. Also ahead, Kilmore Obrego Garcia, the man who was mistakenly sent to a

notorious prison in El Salvador, now facing deportation by the Trump administration again. Pierre Thomas will have the latest on that.

We're going to begin with the extreme heat and wildfires in the West that are forcing evacuations.

Ginger's in Los Angeles with the latest. Good morning, Ginger.

George, good morning. We spent the weekend in extreme heat warnings here in Los Angeles,

but now the focus is on the heat in the Pacific Northwest and far northern California where we saw daily records tied or broken from Mount Shasta to Eugene,

Oregon to Olympia, Washington, and now the focus is on that unstable fire weather.

This morning, more than 12 million Americans are on alert for extreme heat, which is helping to fuel dangerous fires.

In Northern California, Napa County officials issuing evacuation orders and declaring a local emergency as the picket fire spreads.

The biggest issue has been the wind, and we're starting to see those winds pick up a little bit.

7,000 acres have already burned, only 11% of the blaze contained.
