Welcome to another episode of Lurie Breaks It Down, a podcast where we dig deeply to connect the dots on the issues that shape our world.

I'm Lurie Daniel Favors, author, activist, attorney, and the host of the Lurie Daniel Favors show on Sirius XM's Urban View, Channel 126. If you like what you're about to hear, go ahead and give us five stars and then tell everybody that you know. And if you don't like it, just, child, keep it to yourself and pray our strength. Okay, thank you so much. Also, don't forget to check out my YouTube page, Lurie Daniel Favor's Media, where you should subscribe, like, and share, because then you'll get notified when I post videos from my show, which I do just about every single day and when I go live with my YouTube audience. We have a ritual on this show, and this ritual is pretty significant because it is a ritual

0:54.7

that is intended to allow us to do the work of being in Black Talklandia in a way that is

0:59.7

empowering, right? Because the work that we do in this channel, it's difficult. It's not easy.

1:04.3

If you listen to this show for any length of time, you might walk away feeling a little heavy.

1:09.9

And we want to avoid that because the reality

1:12.3

is we have power. We have the capacity to be amazing change agents in this society. And I have

1:19.5

spent the past several days, you know, almost two weeks now, focusing on the ways in which other

1:25.1

people and other societies have done exactly that.

1:27.8

And so we need to be encouraged. We need to remind ourselves of the power that we have.

1:31.8

And on this show, we have a ritual that allows us to do just that, not only be reminded of our power,

1:37.2

but also place ourselves in a situation where we are rooted in a sense of joy, gratitude,

1:43.1

and appreciation. And we have come to live lives that confirm for us rooted in a sense of joy, gratitude, and appreciation.

1:50.5

And we have come to live lives that confirm for us and experience the science that confirms for us, that when you are rooted in joy, gratitude, and appreciation, you cannot also be trapped by fear, loneliness, and depression.

1:57.8

And so for that reason, we have a ritual on this show.

2:00.2

It is called a moment of

2:01.3

gratitude, and it goes a little something like this. In just the minute, you're going to hear

2:06.5

music. The music that you hear is going to be an invitation to you to join the rest of us, because

2:10.8

when we hear it, we will collectively begin taking the slowest, the deepest, the most lung capacity

2:15.9

expanding and joyful heart, invigorating, troubled mind, cleansing, and weary soul, uplifting, the most lung capacity expanding and joyful heart invigorating, troubled mind

2:18.4

cleansing and weary soul uplifting, the most amazingly juicy breath. As we kick off our most

2:24.3

important segment of every single day, it is time for our moment of gratitude. Thank you. Every day, folks, every day we get a chance to do this work.
