| 0:00.0 | Welcome to another episode of Lurie Breaks It Down, a podcast where we dig deeply to connect the dots on the issues that shape our world. |
| 0:20.0 | I'm Lurie Daniel Favors, author, activist, attorney, and the host of the Lurie Daniel Favors show on Sirius XM's Urban View, Channel 126. If you like what you're about to hear, go ahead and give us five stars and then tell everybody that you know. And if you don't like it, just, child, keep it to yourself and pray our strength. Okay? Thank you so much. Also, don't forget to check out my YouTube page, Lurie Daniel Favor's Media, where you should subscribe, like, and share, because then you'll get notified when I post videos from my show, which I do just about every single day and when I go live with my YouTube audience. We have a ritual on this show that we employ before we get to all the heavy news and |
| 0:55.0 | conversation about the world in which we live. And frankly, the world in which we live can be a |
| 0:59.4 | heavy place to be. It's not the easiest of places to analyze and to sit in. So the ritual that |
| 1:04.8 | we use is one that is designed to intentionally focus us on a set of emotions that are designed to make sure we are not trapped by |
| 1:12.7 | fear, loneliness, and depression. It's really hard to do the work of making the world a better |
| 1:16.2 | place when you're stuck in fear, loneliness, and depression. And so the ritual that we use is |
| 1:20.4 | called a moment of gratitude. And it is designed to have us focus on something that's going to give |
| 1:24.3 | us a bit of joy, gratitude, and appreciation. Those emotions are really key when you don't want to be trapped by the previously mentioned emotions. So the |
| 1:31.6 | ritual that we use is pretty simple. It's so simple. In fact, it just goes a little something like |
| 1:36.1 | these. Just a minute you're going to hear music. That music is going to be sung to you by a group |
| 1:41.3 | named the beautiful chorus, and they are indeed a beautiful chorus. And as you hear the music, you are then going to interpret that music as an invitation, because when we hear the music, we are going to invite you to join the rest of us, because we are going to slowly begin taking the slowest, the deepest, and most lung capacity expanding, joyful heart, invigorate, and troubled, non-cleansing, and weary soul uplifting the most amazingly juicy breath. |
| 2:03.4 | As we kick off our most important segment of every single day, |
| 2:06.8 | it is time for our moment of gratitude. |
| 2:39.5 | Thank you. Every day, folks, we got to do it. |
| 2:43.8 | Frankly, it's really hard to make it in this world without having some sort of wellness practice. |
| 2:44.7 | We really, really, really got to do it. |
| 2:46.7 | Shout out to the team. |
| 2:47.7 | Shout out to the Urban View family. |
| 2:49.9 | The Nubians got a chance to hang out with a couple of y'all urban viewers last night at this thing that I was at. |
| 2:55.3 | Shout out to you. |
| 2:55.9 | The New York City community is massive. |
