We have a ritual that we employ on this show to ensure that we are proactively curating a series of emotions,

a set of emotions that are going to be advantageous to us as we do the work of investing some time in Black Talklandia.

And those emotions are joy, gratitude, and appreciation.

And the reason we settle on those as being the emotions we want to jush up is because we know that both from the science and from the lived experience, that when we are rooted in gratitude, for example, biochemically, we cannot also be trapped by fear. Not to say fear is not a thing or an important thing that gives us good insight. Ain't nobody got time to be trapped by fear. When we're rooted in joy, gratitude, and appreciation, we cannot be trapped by fear by loneliness and depression. And considering the magnitude of the work that we have to do, it's important that we are
