Welcome to another episode of Lurie Breaks It Down, a podcast where we dig deeply to connect the dots on the issues that shape our world.

0:20.0

I'm Lurie Daniel Favors, author, activist, attorney, and the host of the Lurie Daniel Favors show on Sirius XM's Urban View, Channel 126. If you like what you're about to hear, go ahead and give us five stars and then tell everybody that you know. And if you don't like it, just, child, keep it to yourself and pray our strength. Okay? Thank you so much. Also, don't forget to check out my YouTube page, Lurie Daniel Favor's Media, where you should subscribe, like, and share because then you'll get notified when I post videos from my show, which I do just about every single day and when I go live with my YouTube audience. We are going to dive in and get started and we're going to start with our ritual.

0:56.0

And this is a ritual that we incorporate every single day. And it is a ritual that allows us,

1:01.2

because frankly the work of Black Talklandia is very difficult. It is a ritual that allows us

1:05.7

to intentionally curate a sense of joy, gratitude, and appreciation. Now, this is important because when you are

1:13.3

dealing with the work that we deal with, it can be, it can heavy, child, it weighs on the soul.

1:19.1

It just does. And you want to make sure that you are approaching these topics, quite frankly,

1:23.8

with as much of an optimistic perspective as possible, because the work may be difficult, but still got to get done. Like it's hard to plant a seed to water and fertilize a seed and grow a seed and then harvest a seed. But if you don't do none of that, you don't eat. So yes, it's difficult work and yes, this show is not one of those shows that, you know, we get to just kiki and giggle and laugh all the time because we ain't got time for that.

1:46.0

Y'all got other shows and other content that can provide you that.

1:48.3

So because we deal with such heavy topics here, we have a ritual on this show that empowers us to really tap into a sense of joy, gratitude, and appreciation.

1:57.0

And that matters because when we are rooted in joy gratitude and appreciation it is

2:01.6

really difficult to be trapped by fear really difficult to be waylaid and hamstrung by loneliness

2:07.9

and depression and frankly that's important not just for our our spiritual health our emotional

2:13.0

health it's also extraordinarily important for our mental health and ability to just find peace

2:17.4

and this is

2:18.2

really going to matter because frankly i like i said i need today's moment of gratitude probably more than y'all

2:23.4

because chow chow oh lord have mercy to work me work in me uh but the ritual is pretty simple

2:31.4

and for those of you who are new to the show the ritual is is so simple. In fact, it goes a little something like this. In just a minute, you're going to hear music. The music is going to be an invitation to you to join the rest of us, because when we hear the music, we are going to collectively begin taking the slowest, deepest, most lung capacity expanding, joyful heart invigorating, troubled mind cleansing,

2:51.5

and weary, so uplifting, we are going to take the most amazingly juicy breath.

2:56.4

As we kick off our most important segment of every single day, it is time for our moment

3:02.0

of gratitude.

3:07.1

Music Thank you. Every day, folks, every day we got to do it, and every day it matters.
