Today, on Sunday, Moldovans were asked if they wanted to move towards a European future.

Why did so many votes know?

a beer and her younger daughter just ran straight for the boys

and they just embraced in this massive hug.

Search British Red Cross to find out more. The country of Moldova, wedged between Romania and Ukraine on the eastern edge of Europe,

is a tiny place in the middle of a gigantic fight,

one that's being had in different ways across that part of the world over whether the future looks more European or more like Vladimir Putin's Russia.

And depending where you look, that fight takes on a different form.

In Georgia earlier this year, it was clashes on the streets between thousands of people and police

over a foreign interference law modeled on a similar law in Moscow.

In Ukraine, that fight is an actual war, one of the bloodiest in Europe since World War II.

And in Moldova, over the weekend, that fight took the form of a referendum.

For these campaigners, an historic day.

A vote on changing the country's constitution to make it easier to one day join the EU.

Effectively making a choice between a future with Europe or Russia.

And after a campaign rife with accusations of Russian meddling, misinformation, and tens of thousands of euros

flooding the country to sway the result.

The final count has come down to just a few thousand votes. Moldovans in favour of securing the country's path towards European Union membership
