2020 edition of Tesla Daily on Official Tesla Podcast.

My name is Rob Maower.

Today we are talking about a voluntary model X recall,

made in China model 3 production,

updated short interest, German electric vehicle subsidies,

and a little bit of news on Tesla's batteries.

First we'll check the stock though, Tesla stock on the day today,

did finish down 0.9% to $767.29 cents.

That compared to the NASDAQ up 0.9 percent, but in the after-hour session, Tesla is down another

1.9 percent to $752.50, likely in reaction to this voluntary recall news,

which I don't think is material and should probably be forgotten about pretty quickly,

hopefully in the pre-market tomorrow.

So just to quickly go through that recall, it does affect up to 15,000 model Xs built before October of 2016

due to an aluminum bolt involved in the power steering system of those model Xs that may face

corrosion and break due to that corrosion eventually, which could cause a loss or

reduction of the power steering capability, though of course you still can steer a vehicle without

power steering.

So Tesla is proactively taking care of this issue. They actually proactively took care of the same issue on about 120,000 model S is a couple years back.

This is obviously a much smaller recall and that 15,000 number while it might seem big on the surface, that represents less than 2% of

Tesla's fleet nowadays as we approach Tesla delivering its 1 million vehicle likely this quarter.

So never surprising to see a bit of a sell-off when recall news breaks, but as this is relatively
