There will be explicit discussions of sex, discussions of rape and bestiality, period typical

homophobia and racism from the 16th century to the 21st century, and outdated language for third gender people

in quotes. I'd also just like to note that the mochee people are from Peru, and so a lot of the

scholarship on this topic was written in Spanish. I don't speak Spanish, so I've had to rely on

a lot of scholars quoted in translation secondhand by other scholars and

summaries written by other scholars and things like that.

So before we talk about the pots, I'm going to start with a brief introduction about the

moche people.

So the moche and they're also called the machica civilization existed in the fertile valleys

in the north coast of what is now Peru, from around 100 to around 750 C.E.

And after 750, distinctly Moche culture disappears with the spread of other kind of cultures

from the area.

The Moche left behind impressive monumental architecture, including two temples known as Waka

Della Luna and Waka del Sol.
