The unanimous vote by the city council's rules, elections, and intergovernmental relations committee for Heather Hutt's nomination to serve as an interim member of the Los Angeles City Council is just the latest step in addressing the void left by Herb Wesson, who was to fill the void left by indicted city councilman Mark Ridley Thomas.
