Welcome to slow more. Thank you for coming back. I know that I have scared you in part one of this two-part episode.

Scary Smart is about artificial intelligence and the reality of where those machines have gone.

They are here, they are intelligent and we really, really need to take them to a place where they have our best interest in mind.

Now for us to have artificial intelligence work in our best interest, it matters a lot for you to understand that this is up to you.

It's not up to the regulators, it's not up to the computer scientists that believe in the control problem. It's not up to the

owners of the machines and it's not up to the developers that wrote the code. It is up to you.

And the beginning of this part too, the smart part of Scary Smart, is actually

not about making them smart. They're going to be smart. It's about making us smart. And

for us to be smart we have to understand that it's our

responsibility because you and I in the good part of this can actually save our

world. It's all starts with an understanding of how those

machines actually learn. The key to understanding AI is in understanding the way they learn.

And I will never forget that yellow ball.

arms would be highly programmed to grip a metal plate, for example, in an automobile

factory, down to the, almost to the microns so that they can grip it accurately every time.
