Summary

Today's word of the day is 'acquiescence' as in Todd Gurley going public saying Deion Sanders didn't want him to wear the no. 21 jersey for the Falcons (0:06). MLB is Japan!? Should we book our plane tickets now!? NO! It won't happen (3:10). I know you're all fans of the CPBL, right? You know, the Chinese Professional Baseball League, which had Opening Day on Sunday? Well, it's season has started in Taiwain, with no fans (9:11). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me what my view was of Ronda Rousey coming out publicly with some very negative comments about fans (13:05). A NASCAR driver has now been suspended without pay for a using a racist remark in an iRacing event. Kyle Larson should be ashamed of himself, and I'm ashamed that his racing team, Chip Ganassi Racing, didn't come out stronger in their statement (19:24). Shaq offered Isiah Rider $10K to fight Kobe Bryant which reminded me of a great story about Dan Uggla and Hanley Ramirez (26:47). Review - Oliver (32:31). MLBeard Challenge Day 27-29: Texas Rangers, Toronto Blue Jays, Washington Nationals (37:37). My pick to win it all was Trae Young in the H-O-R-S-E competition and he lost in the first round... I'm back with a winner though! #waittosee ---------------------------   'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts.   Follow David on Twitter: @DavidPSamson  To watch David on CBS Sports HQ visit https://www.cbssports.com/live/ To hear more from the CBS Sports Podcast Network, visit https://www.cbssports.com/podcasts/ Learn more about your ad choices. 0:14.8

It's the reluctance acceptance of something without protest.

0:19.9

He acquiesced. It means he didn't go crazy. He didn't agree. He didn't disagree.

0:27.2

He just sort of, it's really the synonym for acquiescence is, eh.

0:35.7

Why is that my word of the day? Well, there was a story this weekend, Todd Gurley.

0:39.9

Remember Todd Gurley? He's that running back for the Los Angeles Rams who signed that $60 million

0:45.2

or four-year deal and then got released a year into it and then was signed by the Atlanta

0:51.2

Falcons, but the signing is not official because he can't have his physical quite yet.

0:56.6

So one of the most famous ever Atlanta Falcons is Hall of Famer, greatest cornerback of

1:01.3

all time. Cokatomi, Dion Sanders, prime time, prime time, more number 21 for the Falcons.

1:09.7

Interestingly enough, the Atlanta Falcons do not retire any numbers. They have a ring of

1:15.1

honor in their stadium, but no retired numbers. So Todd Gurley said, you know what? I've got

1:21.9

a good idea. I'm going to take number 21, but first I'm going to call Dion. So somehow

1:28.1

he calls Dion because all celebrities have all celebrities numbers. They can reach out

1:32.4

to anyone they want. He calls Dion and Dion sort of acquiesces. And then Gurley goes

1:40.7

public and says, he's hating on me. He didn't want me to take his number. And then Dion

1:46.9

Sanders respond tweets saying, I was just joking. It's very funny how things can get lost

1:54.1

in textulation, isn't it? Is it possible that Todd Gurley never asked or is it possible

2:00.1

that he asked and totally misunderstood what Dion responded? Or is it possible that

2:05.1

Gurley wanted to get some good attention? So made it as though there was some sort of

2:08.7

conflict because conflict sells. Well, I think what most likely happened is Todd Gurley
