The word of the day is Ghost Runner, which is the single worst name trying to explain

to you the fan what it means to have in Major League Baseball in the top of the 10th inning,

an extra-any game tied after 9 innings. All of a sudden, the picture comes out to pitch

the top of the 10th. Everyone's excited. And then a guy trots out to second base. Man

on second, no outs. I love the rule. It was just put back into play yesterday. The players

and the owners agreed on something. They actually agreed on three things. Three rule changes,

three additions to the CBA. But let's start with the Ghost Runner. That is something

that started. We talked about that for four years inside the competition committee in

Baseball. What do we do to make the games shorter? We spoke to GMs. They cannot stand 18

innings games. You and I have talked about this, folks. You know that we spend extra-any

games trying to figure out who we're going to call up, who we're going to send down,

what we're going to do to for pitching the next day, who's tired, who's not. Then we're

tired. We're back at the park the next day. Then the players are taking Red Bull or

Greenies or Whiteies or Pinkies or Brownies. Puns all intended. It's just not good. So

having a runner on second base means get him over, get him in. In theory, that's how
