Today we're talking about MK Ultra and the consciousness experiments that the government bury.

His name is Sidney Gottlie, and for 22 years he ran the most ambitious, most secret, and most destructive investigation

of human consciousness in the history of the United States government.

He was awarded the Distinguished Intelligence Medal when he retired, the CIA's highest honor.

The citation remains classified. He was called

the Black Sorcerer, Washington's official poisoner, and the dirty trickster. He developed

assassination tools for Fidel Castro, a poisoned cigar, a poison diving suit, poisoned ballpoint

pen. He created true serums, knockout drugs, and aerosol

sprays that could incapacitate a room full of people. And alongside all of this simultaneously

in the same years, under the same classified program, he investigated whether the human mind

could perceive events at a distance, whether electromagnetic fields could alter consciousness

remotely, and whether extrasensory perception could be used as a tool for gathering intelligence.

The program was called MK Ultra.

Most people know it as the CIA's LSD program, the one where they dosed unwitting Americans

with psychedelic drugs, hired prostitutes to lure men into CIA-run Bordellos, and destroyed

the minds of prisoners and psychiatric patients in black sites across three continents.

That story's been told.
