let's get into mk ultra so a little bit of history during the cold war the CIA had become convinced

that communists had discovered a way to control human minds they didn't know exactly how whether it be drugs or some sort of technique, but about

5,000 Americans had signed letters while being held as prisoners of war in the Korean

war, stating that the invasion by the U.S. was not okay, that they didn't agree with it.

Some of them did take back their statements when they came

back to the U.S., but some of them didn't take back their statements, and then others decided

to just stay in Korea and not come back at all. So that's when the CIA was like, wait a second,

like, are these guys being mind-controlled? Did they go over there and get brainwashed? Is that what happened?

And so this is kind of like what triggered this idea that they were under some sort of mind control.

I mean, it also could have been like Stockholm syndrome. But being a prisoner of war is no joke.
