Rashon Jones saw a mistrial declared after a deadlock jury couldn't determine if he murdered teammate Brian

Patta two decades ago. Jones was accused of shooting and killing Pata outside of his apartment in 2006.

Jones was not arrested until 2021. During the trial, the prosecution tried to paint a picture of a feud between Jones and Pata over a girlfriend.

One big piece of evidence involved former Miami instructor Paul Connor, who claimed he saw a person walking away from Pata's complex shortly after the shooting.

Seven months later, he identified Jones in a police lineup.

But the defense argued it was dark at the time of the few-second encounter and took issue with the identification coming months later. Connor also said he wasn't sure if he was wearing his glasses at the time. With the mistrial, prosecutors are allowed to try the case again with a new jury.
