Colby and I traveled up to Springfield, Missouri to meet with Laura Conley,

who is the furbearer biologist for the Missouri Department of Conservation and Missouri Department of Conservation biologist, Josh Wisdom, and we talked about Missouri Blackbears.

They're right now in consideration of developing a very limited hunting season in Missouri.

We talk about all the nuts and bolts and absolutely nerd out, nerd out on bear biology

in a very interesting conversation.

And I want to say just off the get-go, we say this in the podcast, but for fear of it getting lost inside all the

incredible details of bear biology, is that really what's to be celebrated inside of this

is that there are bears in the Missouri Ozarks, and they haven't been there in a long time or there was a

stretch of time when they were basically extirpated and so as hunters we're not just

celebrating or even primarily celebrating that they are considering allowing people to hunt them

what we're celebrating is that they're there.
