This episode is for Ben Friend, who wants to hear a story about space travel.

Hey Ben, here is your special episode about the Apollo 11 moon mission.

Before I tell you all the amazing story of the moon mission, I want to take a few minutes

to paint a backdrop for you.

I have told you quite a few stories about World War II, the war in which the Allied forces

fought hard to stop evil men from taking over the world.

The top bad guy in that war was Adolf Hitler.

It was also in that war that Japan attacked the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor,

Hawaii.

That attack is what finally brought the United States officially into the war.

After that war, there was a period of time that was fraught with animosity between the

great communist nation, the Soviet Union, and the United States, which represents the power

of democracy, capitalism, and freedom.

These two world powers spent decades eyeing each other and flexing their muscles.

Both of them wanted to show the rest of the world that their type of government and economic

system were best, and that they were a force to be reckoned with.

One of the aspects of the Cold War was a space race between the two nations.

Technology was speeding forward, and this allowed scientists on both sides to not only dream
