0:31.0	On this episode of Black Girl Gone, we tell the story of Dr. Cheryl Pearson, a 37-year-old woman who disappeared from Bartlett, Tennessee, on January 5th, 2002.
0:44.0	The night Cheryl was last seen, she attended a Memphis Grizzlies game.
0:48.0	Afterward, a couple of Cheryl's friends came by her house to hang out for a while.

0:57.0	The next day, Cheryl was supposed to babysit for her sister, but when her sister arrived at her house, Cheryl wasn't home.

1:20.0	Before we get into this week's episode, I wanted to make sure I updated you all about what we have learned in the past week regarding what happened to Adriana Barnes and who was responsible.
1:30.0	As many of you already know, the body of 19-year-old Adriana Barnes was found on a balcony of an apartment in Cleveland, Ohio.
1:38.0	Adriana had been missing since July 2021.
1:42.0	We now know that the apartment belonged to Adriana's boyfriend, 39-year-old Benny Washington.
1:49.0	Police say that Washington shot Adriana in the head and then put her body on the balcony in an attempt to hide the smell of decomposition.
1:58.0	Police believe that Adriana had been dead since she disappeared.
2:03.0	Benny Washington has been arrested and charged with murder and abuse of a corpse.
2:09.0	After learning that Adriana was found at the last place that she was known to have been seen, I couldn't help but feel angry for her family.
2:17.0	Police may not have been able to prevent what happened to Adriana, but they could have saved her family from eight months of anguish searching for her when she was there the whole time.
2:28.0	What Adriana's family has had to endure these past eight months is the direct result of please dismissing these women when their families report them missing.
2:37.0	I don't understand why the police never searched her boyfriend's apartment, but it's easy to see why so many cases of missing black women don't get solved.
2:46.0	If Benny Washington had not been evicted from that apartment and left the body on the balcony, Adriana's family would still be searching for her.
2:54.0	The police didn't discover Benny Washington murdered Adriana during their investigation into what happened to her.
