Ten months ago, ex-police officer Derek Chauvin was caught on a viral video pinning down a handcuffed man named George Floyd, who later passed away.

This incited riots around Minneapolis and across the country, with violent crime in Minneapolis rising by 21% last year, businesses that were burnt, residents unsure about the

future of living in their city.

Now the trial of Derek Chauvin is currently underway,

and residents are left wondering what will come next

as they await a verdict.

One of those residents of Minneapolis is Marcus Hunter.

He's 17 years old.

He lost his own father to gun violence six years ago, And he says, quote, if I remain living here,

So I was in your neighborhood and I talked to Mr. Samuels when I was there.

What's your relationship with him? Tell me about where you're living now.

I live with the Samuels and about six years ago when I lost my father, he began making an appearance in my life as my mentor.

And progressively after that, making the transition from middle school to high school,

I started to live with them for schooling purposes and to go to school from here.
