Chris Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast. The Pittsburgh Steelers' defense played an ELITE game against the Cincinnati Bengals in their 23-20 overtime upset. Minkah Fitzpatrick was PHENOMENAL with 14 tackles, an interception returned for a touchdown and a blocked extra point. He was backed by a defense that totaled seven sacks, three added interceptions and two forced fumbles, one which was recovered, and all were on Joe Burrow. T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith, Cam Heyward, Ahkello Witherspoon and even Devin Bush were part of a great defensive performance that won despite the Steelers' offense only getting 13 first downs. Mike Tomlin, Teryl Austin and Brian Flores called up a great defensive game plan, and we break that down further. Mitch Trubisky came up in overtime when needed, but didn't have a good first game at quarterback. He did, however, protect the football and have zero turnovers. We examine Trubisky's day with Diontae Johnson, Najee Harris , Pat Freiermuth and Chase Claypool on top of the offensive line and whether Matt Canada's offensive scheme was the problem.
