Summary

For this month's minisode, we thought we'd give our listeners a preview of some of the bonus minisodes that we're creating for our patreon subscribers. This is one we recorded in May 2021, and it's all about the history of Literary Friction. We had a lot of fun thinking back to when we were baby interviewers, so listen in for the fruits of Carrie's archival digging, our memories of the night we first met all those moons ago (clue: big earrings and a jumpsuit were involved), and our high points and low points over the years. 0:30.6	Hi, Carrie. How are you doing? Hi, Octavia. I've missed you and I'm so glad we're here recording this. I've missed you too. Yeah, and I've been on holiday, so I'm good, basically. It was sunny. I had a great time. It makes all the difference. How are you? I am deep in chapter 7. I'm submitting my manuscript next month. So I'm in the tunnel, basically.

1:02.5	Finishing a book. You know what's harder than finishing a book? What? Nothing. Nothing is harder than
1:10.1	finishing a book. I thought that starting a book was really hard, but
1:13.9	you know, finishing is harder. Yeah, I mean, I have never done it myself, but I work with a lot of
1:19.8	people who do it, and I don't think anyone has had an easy time ever in the history of my career
1:25.4	as a literary agent. So I don't know if that comes as some solace.
1:29.1	Yeah, it's funny because I remember it from my thesis as well. And there's this like, it's like agony, agony, agony. And then right at the end, it clicks together. And I'm just like longing for that feeling of click. And I'm not there yet. I've got a month. It's all right. But yeah, my therapist was being very funny the other day. She was like, this is your process. You write until the last minute.

1:47.9	piece of work I've ever known you to do. Don't waver now. And I'm like, okay. I will be writing
1:56.5	the last sentence the day I give it to my editor, and that's just how I roll.
