I know that on Thursdays we usually release a full-length episode with both Sarah and I,

but this week we had to change up our schedule a little bit.

We actually recorded, we were guests on another podcast, and we recorded that this week during our recording time.

And that is going to be coming out, I think, in a few weeks.

So keep your ears out for that.

We'll let you know more about that later.

But I still wanted to record something to release on the regular release day for you all.

And I have this wonderful letter from our listener and friend Monica that I wanted to share with you all.

So without further ado, I'm going to jump in and read that for you.

She says, first of all, I want to apologize.

I want to apologize for my complicity and support of a religious institution that was inherently racist, oppressive, and prejudiced. And to do my part in honoring

Juneteenth, not just today, but every day, we are dismantling white supremacist systems in our home.

I grew up Mormon. My culture was Mormon.

I did not speak my language because my parents feared I would have an accent.

They were beaten in government boarding schools for speaking their language.

With every whip and every pounding fist, their culture died.

My mother went on the Indian placement program created by the Mormon Church.

She learned to curl and set her straight Navajo hair.

She learned to make three-course meals.

She learned that Mormon Jesus would turn her cursed brown skin white if she was a righteous Mormon. My dad went on a Mormon mission
