Dear Angela, I wanted to share my thanks that got

away with you. Fantastic. I am a transgender man and came out as such last year to my parents,

but not to my wider family until this year. I was fearful of how my grandmother would react.

I thought she would think that I was attention-seeking,

or maybe that I was quote-unquote a tomboy, when in actual fact it was a lot more than that.

In addition to this, it was hardly spoken about when she was my age, so there was a bit of a

generational difference. However, when I sat down and explained that I was transgender, she hardly batted an eyelid,

and her first question was how my parents reacted and whether or not other people were okay with it.

It just shows how thoughtful she is and how little it mattered to her because at the end of the day, we are still family.

I just regret that it was during the pandemic because although

we're not an overly affectionate family, I could have at least given her a hug out of gratitude

and shown her how much it meant to me to have her on my side because I have a long journey ahead of

me to become the most comfortable I can be in my own skin. Tanner. A lovely one, that is beautiful.

I mean, this isn't always the case. Maybe your granny's just a bit of a legend, but they become more

open. They've seen it all, haven't they? And ultimately, all they want is for you to be happy and for your
