Summary

Each and every one of us is on this planet for a reason, and we all have a unique contribution to make. In today's climate of comparison, we can often get caught up in what others are doing and attempt to emulate them, whereby ignoring what our own contribution might be or how our individuality matters. It is important that we all recognize that it IS the uniqueness of each of us that matters and in order to meet your own purpose you must show up fully for who you are rather than attempt to be someone else.

LESSONS: We each have a unique contribution to make in this world. When you compare ourselves to others and attempt to be like someone else, the world not only loses out on who you are but you also lose out on the benefit of true authenticity. During these times, remember that your contribution matters - no matter how small you think it might be. We need to you to show up for yourself so that you can show up for others.

So first I want to talk a little bit about some of the advice just in a general sense that you've been giving to Spartans and people in this community pre-COVID,

0:15.0

and then also what, how that shifted in

0:19.0

and what you've been focusing on during.

0:21.0

But both in, both in terms of your Spartan work and your own practice.

0:24.0

Yeah, so one, I mean, one of the biggest things that I talked to clients about

0:33.8

and that I've talked to clients about for years,

0:36.5

but if I'm being completely honest,

0:38.8

when I first started out as a psychologist,

0:41.1

you know, it was all about just like doing the right thing, you know, like I would be in sessions with clients and really wanting to like say the right thing and address the cognitive distortions.

0:56.2

And you know, like pull out all of the psychology words

0:59.4

that, you know, we sort of learn

1:02.3

help individuals move towards change.

1:04.5

But I think one of the things that I've learned over the years

1:07.5

and that I really make a focus in my work with my clients

1:11.8

is helping them understand that they have a unique

1:16.7

contribution to make on this planet and in this world and so one of the things that I feel like the therapy space and

1:24.7

that my relationship with clients does is it sort of creates this arena in

1:29.4

which individuals can explore elements of themselves, their thoughts, their beliefs, their relationships,

1:37.0

that then allow them to step into who they really want to be and how they really want to show up

1:41.6

for the world and then for them to actually do that.

1:44.0

And here's one of the things that gravitated me towards Spartan

1:49.0

and why I feel like in so many ways the work that I do with my clients is so similar in what Spartan does with
