Welcome to this on-air with Ella minisode, a little bite-sized boost to your day, always quick,

0:05.8

always thought-provoking, and always under 10 minutes.

0:09.0

Let's go.

0:12.4

So I began looking for more and more patterns like that, and that's what led me to the discovery

0:16.9

of this four tendencies framework that really shows how people fall into four categories in the

0:22.6

way that they respond to expectations. Well, I personally am obsessed with habit formation,

0:28.2

with why we can't form habits, with why we can't, Gretchen. Like, I share this obsession with you.

And then one day I was looking at my to-do list, you know, sitting in my laptop, my computer,

1:17.7

looking at my messy to-do list, and all of a sudden it hit me that the thread was this

1:22.7

idea of expectations.

1:24.1

And it hit me, you know, like a ton of bricks, that it's expectations. Outer

1:28.5

expectations, like a work deadline, inner expectations, like a New Year's resolution, and that

1:33.5

this was the thing that pulled all these seemingly very unrelated patterns together and made

1:39.1

sense of how people behave. I couldn't figure out, like, why are people acting the way they do? Well, now I know.

1:45.4

It's the four tendencies. Let's as a refresher for everybody share what they are. So again,
