Hey, you're on air with Ella, and today I am joined by Julia Blackwell. Hey, Julia, how are you?

0:34.5

Hey, thanks so much for having me on. Great to be here. Julia, will you do me a favor and tell us who you are and what you do?

0:41.3

I am Julia Blackwell, and I am a fascia release practitioner and educator just outside of Denver, Colorado.

0:49.5

And yeah, I've been educating people on this magical, wonderful thing called fascia for the last,

0:54.9

like 12 to 13 years. Well, I've had this show for nine years, I want to say, and I cannot believe

1:01.2

that I have never spoken about this. I've never had a fascia expert on before. Given my own

1:06.1

experience, you would think that this would be like my sixth show on fascia. So needless to say, I am so glad you're here. Will you do us a

1:13.9

favor? Tell us, what is fascia? We've all got it. Some of us, you know, are having a better time than others.

1:20.7

What is fasha? Yeah, great question. I think one of the easiest analogies to understand it is to envision it like plastic wrap

1:29.1

that wraps around every single thing in your body. So fascia wraps around each muscle

1:35.0

fibral and multiple fibrales make up just one muscle fiber and fascia wraps around each

1:41.2

fiber. It wraps around each muscle, each muscle group, each bone,

1:47.0

ligament, tendon, blood vessel, organ, and nerve. It is this intricate three-dimensional

1:52.7

plastic wrap suit that we have on the inside. And it's what organizes all of the water and

1:59.4

material that we have in our body. So, you know, depending on how

2:03.5

healthy and hydrated and maybe how old you are, we're all between, you know, maybe 55 and 75% water.

2:10.8

And the vast majority of that water is contained within our fascial system. And why we don't

2:16.1

just have balloon legs where all of the water is

2:18.8

puddled at our feet is because of fascia. Fascia is what is organizing us into our shape,
