Summary

It’s week three of our “mini-mess” episode series! We’ve been studying places in the Bible where God changed a person’s name and how the new name brought new beginnings and clarity to that person’s calling.

We’re digging into Matthew 16 this week, where Jesus changed Simon’s name to Peter. This name change reminds us that when we fully grasp who Jesus is, we become “a rock” or “cornerstone” in the larger narrative of the gospel. We begin to see new significance and meaning in our days.

Next week, we will begin to wrap up this study. There will be a lot of amazing applications you won’t want to miss! But for now, I hope you will remember: when we spend time with our Savior he transforms our lives in remarkable ways. Take time this week to dig into God’s word and consider the question of who Jesus really is in your life.

Grab your Bible. Tune into the podcast this morning. And please share it with a friend who might need encouragement during these days!

Quick biblical conversations with lasting truth.

Welcome to week three of our mini-mess. I want to thank you guys, first and foremost, for your sweet

0:22.5

emails, for the iTunes reviews, for all the ways you've reached out to let us know that you're

0:27.1

enjoying this mini mess. And so thanks for doing this each week with me. And I have a big announcement

0:33.3

before we kick it off. I feel like I've had a baby. And again, it's not because of COVID and all the

0:39.1

quarantining extra weight. There's that. But no, I have always heard people say when they've written a book

0:45.5

or something, it feels like, you know, your labor of love or your baby. And this week, I'm so excited

0:51.4

that one of my babies, the prayer journal, is available for sale.

0:56.7

And so hang with me here for just a minute.

0:58.6

But if you're listening to this Monday podcast, my guess is that you are fully aware of

1:03.1

the prayer journal because I'm guessing you probably followed us last year where each Monday

1:06.8

morning we got together and prayed through the prayer journal for our kids. And the reason

1:11.4

this is more of a labor of love than ever for me, the new prayer journal for the 2021 school year,

1:16.1

it's even more a labor of love because it just nearly didn't happen for a whole lot of reasons

1:21.3

I'm not going to go into right now, but not the least of which I had to have emergency surgery

1:25.4

during the deadlines for this book. My son had to have

1:29.6

surgery and broke his finger. All kinds of stuff we're going on personally and even in our

1:34.1

organization. But like we powered through in the Lord. I just believe he wanted to have this

1:38.8

prayer journal to pray for our kids. And I think there's never been a more important time to be praying

1:43.2

through our kids as we face

1:44.3

this next school year. So I just want to give you an opportunity and ask you to consider right now
