Summary

Dr. L says - We are a society that is filled with distractions. And we aren’t very good at taking accountability for our own role in this absent-minded behavior. Time management matters when we’ve got so much happening AND when distractibility is so available to us. But you’ve got to be able to integrate some time management skills into your daily life in a way that supports all of your busy activities rather than restricts them.

Hey Spartans, it's Dr. L. here with Spartan Mind, your chief mindoc, and today we're talking

0:10.3

about time management skills. Now time management these days is

0:14.9

something I feel like we could all use because we get distracted by so many

0:18.8

things especially those phones and I know there's tons of apps out there that are going to help you,

0:23.8

time manage, and give you all these promises of the way that they're going

0:26.8

to organize your life. But listen, it's just not that complicated. There are three

0:31.7

easy ways to time manage. The first is prioritize. Put in order the things that are of greater importance to you, the things that matter more to you, the things that are of more priority to you.

0:46.4

Write them down, put them on a list, put them on your whiteboard, put them on a post it.

0:50.3

I don't care where you put them, just make that they're somewhere because if they're just in your head

0:55.6

They're gonna like wobble around and sometimes switch places with each other it's really important.

1:03.0

to write down your list of what's most important.

1:07.0

Two, say no.

1:10.0

When we're working with time management skills, often I find that people are really used to and

1:15.5

really like saying yes to things, which loads up their bucket full of things that they have to do,

1:20.9

and they can't figure out how to manage it. One part of time

1:23.5

management is saying no. Saying no to the things that you don't want to do and

1:27.8

that you know are not going to be good for you, right? Saying no to projects

1:31.6

that you can't take on, saying no to friends that want to have

1:34.4

coffee with you for the eighth time that week, you've got to say no sometimes and you've got to get

1:39.2

used to that language. It's okay to say no. It's not a total rejection. It's just, hey, not now, maybe later, right?

1:46.2

Or it's okay if it is a total rejection. You're not responsible for other people's feelings

1:50.7

if they ask and you say no. Okay? The third is commit. Once you've
