Summary

This week I recap my 5 day, 3,200 mile, journey across America with my father-in-law. I got the chance to drive him to my wedding and I spent some time interviewing him along the way. While I don’t share his interview in this episode, I do share lessons from the road, and a few from him. Tune in to hear how the journey went, the adversity we faced, and the lessons we learned! I'm having to record on my phone because when I got back from my wedding, my computer broke.

So my computer is in the shop, getting repaired, some problems with the display.

Anyway, what I wanted to do on this week's midweek mini episode was just recap the last week

0:28.1

and a half.

0:29.1

So as many of you already know, I decided to drive my father-in-law from New Jersey all the way to Whistler, BC, which is outside of

0:41.9

Vancouver, to be at my wedding. And I'm not too sure. Maybe everybody doesn't know the story. So just

0:48.5

to quickly recap, my father-in-law does not fly. So he basically has, you know, has a fear of flying. He's very

0:59.3

claustrophobic. He's 81 years old. And he doesn't, he doesn't want to get on a plane. And he just

1:04.7

decided he doesn't want to get on a plane anymore. He's only flown twice, I think, in his life.

1:09.0

And both of which were in his earlier years.

1:13.0

And, you know, no matter what Vienna and I did, we couldn't convince him to get on a plane.

1:18.4

Initially, when leading up to the wedding, Joe, his name is Joe, he basically said, you know what,

1:23.5

I give you my blessing, go get married and Whistler.

1:25.7

I'm just not going to be there.

1:27.9

And that wasn't acceptable to me.

1:30.9

One of the questions that I asked him was,

1:33.9

if you weren't at your only daughter's wedding,

1:37.0

at your only child's wedding,

1:39.3

would you, if you were laying on your deathbed, regret that decision?

1:43.4

Would you regret not being there for her wedding? And his answer was yes. And I said, okay, well, then, you know, we need to find a way to get you there. And he said, well, I don't want to, like, I really don't want to fly. It's not something that I am going to do. And I said, okay, well, there's other options, right? Like, we could put you on a train.

2:01.0

We could, we could drive you there. Like, there's many options. And I said, why don't, why don't
