Welcome guys and gals to the man talk show. I'm Connor Beaton and today we're going to talk about

0:05.5

how to end your own suffering. Now, I know this might sound like a sort of esoteric topic or something

0:13.9

that maybe seems like an impossibility. But this is something that people have been talking about

0:19.1

for years. And in fact, this is actually something that I have been talking about for years. And in fact, this is actually

0:22.2

something that I have been on a journey to understand more deeply for a long time. Ever since I was a

0:31.8

child, I can actually remember myself as a little kid, going through distressful situations, going through situations

0:40.9

with my parents, with my family, in my environment, painful situations, where I often found

0:47.9

myself questioning why, not only why is this happening, but how can I make sure that this never happens again? And there was

0:57.3

something within me, this sort of naive innocence that set out on a journey to understand

1:03.4

what causes us suffering, what causes us pain, and how do we learn from that pain and suffering,

1:10.8

and how do we not necessarily avoid it.

1:13.3

In fact, I think that my journey and understanding suffering has evolved because I think like

1:18.2

many people, I started off on the journey to understand suffering by trying to avoid it.

1:23.9

And what I realized through that journey is that when we try and avoid suffering, it actually

1:29.0

epitomizes our suffering. It actually is the accentuation, the sort of brightening and

1:36.0

turning the volume dial up on our suffering. The more that we avoid it, the more that we try and get

1:41.6

away from it, the stronger that our suffering

1:44.3

seems to come on. And so today I want to talk about a practical means of ending your suffering,

1:51.2

wherever you are, and give you some very sort of practical tools. So first and foremost,

1:58.4

we need to understand what suffering actually is, right? Because it's a very

2:03.2

analogous sort of esoteric concept, right? Most people would think suffering equates to pain.

2:10.4

But what kind of pain? Because there's many different kinds, right? There's physical pain,
