Send me your questions. Today's edit is about school, lunch, life skills. It is hard for me to believe

that it's August and school will be in session this month or might already be in session for you.

And one of the big pain points I often hear about from parents involves school lunch.

Now, the great irony is that as a kid, buying school lunch was our one luxury, something my mom opted for instead of making seven school lunches every day.

Understandable. So, of course, I always longed for a brown seven school lunches every day. Understandable. So of course, I always longed

for a brown bag school lunch. And as a parent, my kids have never wanted to buy school lunch.

I believe Laurel made it through her entire K-12 experience, never buying lunch, and Vi is on a

similar trajectory.

Though, in addition to them liking what they like in terms of food, I do understand the other issue of time.

There aren't a lot of minutes for the lunch block, and both of my kids have expressed their

concern that time spent in the school lunch line means they don't actually have time to eat,

which, as somebody who appreciates mindful eating, I get it.
