Today's mini edit is about three fantastic books I have recently finished.

It has been so fantastic to get back into books this year.

Along with jigsaw puzzles, books are the best antidote to mindless scrolling for me.

It's a million times more nourishing, and when I find a great page turner, I truly feel like

I've hit the lottery.

Now, speaking of page turners, I want to talk about the 50-page litmus tests I have mentioned

before on this show.

I used to really force myself to push through

a book, even when I wasn't enjoying it, because I just felt like I should finish, both because

I had started it, and also perhaps at some level as a nod of respect to the author. But time

and again, I just found myself so bummed out in these instances where I spent my precious

hours grinding my way through a book I did not enjoy. And I was like, why am I doing this?

And so I gave myself permission to pull the rip cord if I wasn't enjoying myself by 50 pages in.

And anytime I shared about this online,

people were like, what?

You can do that?

So clearly we need to keep talking about it.
