nobody's home. Free agency is the great value destroyer in Dynasty leagues. Generates a lot of emotion and elicits a lot of reaction across all NFL media channels, but the net result is negative.

The overall lifetime value of the veteran player pool is diminished post free agency. Why? Because when

players change teams they often underperform time and time and time again especially with wide receivers when they change teams they disappoint.

They disappoint their fantasy owners.

Exhibit A. Odell Beckham, Exhibit B, Kareem Hunt, Exhibit C, Jimmy Graham, and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on.

The most productive players in the league are the most productive because of a

confluence of events. It's the players great abilities paired with high value opportunities to use those talents to go out and score fantasy points.

You have players with talent not getting the opportunities and you have players getting

opportunities without the talent.

When those two things come together, the confluence of those two forces creates the most

valuable fantasy football assets.

Think Michael Thomas. Is Michael Thomas talented?

Absolutely. He's not good Michael Thomas. He's great Michael Thomas. But when you

pair him with Drew Breeze and a 90% catchable target rate. That's how you get the best fantasy wide

receive. When a player changes teams, the coaches have to figure out the optimal way to integrate

him and that may or may not ever happen.

The player has to learn the new system which may or may not be as suited to his skill set as the previous system

and then develop rapport with his teammates.

The running back has to develop rapport with the offensive line.

The wide receiver and the tie-in have to develop rapport with the quarterback.
