uh, Dynasty Leagueers are still chasing. They're still chasing that high from 2014.

The vast majority of Dynasty League enthusiasts are addicts. They are wide receiver addicts.

They know the wide receivers not good for you. They know drafting a wide receiver in the first

round of a rookie draft negatively impacts the health of your Dynasty League team and yet and yet they continue to do it.

List a bunch of players and say who would you draft at slot one?

List a bunch of players. Who would you draft at slot two?

List a bunch of players. Who would you draft at slot two? List a bunch of players.

Who would you draft at slot three?

And if you listen to the last Sonic Truth episode that I hosted with Ryan Lopes,

you know the drill.

First thing you do is try to trade your first round picks. After that, if you must use it on a rookie player who has never played a snap in the NFL, you must invest that highly valuable asset in the

running back position because you own these players for life. There's a lot at

stake in a dynasty rookie draft. It's critical that you receive value in

return and better yet the value accrues in year one. You're much more likely to see

your value accrue in year one by investing in a running back than you are a wide receiver.

We know about the wide receiver development curve. It's a known thing. From Devontay Adams to Devon Funches, to Nelson Agilor, you need to be prepared to invest at least three years in a wide receiver.

In some cases, like with Adam Thelin, four to five years.

In the Financial Services world, portfolio managers call that a carrying cost.

There's an opportunity cost to parking that asset in your portfolio and crowding out other assets that can accrue value watching that asset surely depreciate in lieu of other assets that would more likely appreciate.
