Now administering the third eye drops. Welcome, welcome to the Wonder Dip, my fellow sentient sacks of Stardust. I am elated to bring you this one, but first, one of the more noxious tendencies that humans have. One that seems to be rampant

right now unfortunately is dogmatic axiomatic allegiances.

You know what I'm talking about, that oozing, stinky, reality tunnel bias.

I blab about it all the time. This phenomena where you get so attached to a particular map of reality

that you become a rabid agent of it which has this ironic self-masticating effect where you just wind up cannibalizing

your own wonder.

You spend more time defending your territory than actually investigating the juicy mystery it

symbolizes.

So that's something that I always look for in a guess.

People who are not only interesting and brilliant and creative

or whatever, but also manage to lay down their hubris,

also manage to still be humble.

And that sort of humbleness is even more admirable and infectious when the person has every reason to be feeling themselves,

you know, every reason to be secreting pride

because they objectively are that talented and brilliant and I'm not sure

there's a better example of that than Dr. Donald Hoffman.

If you've heard him on the show before, you know he is a professor of cognitive science at

UC Irvine. He's the author of the case against reality.

But more importantly, you can tell he is a respected accomplished scientist,

but he's also first and foremost, a wonder-fueled knowledge-seeker that is genuinely
