Summary

Thubten Chodron (born Cheryl Greene) is Tibetan Buddhist author, teacher, and the founder of Sravasti Abbey, the only Tibetan Buddhist training monastery in the United States. Thubten Chodron is also a student of the Dalai Lama and other Tibetan masters. She has published many books on Buddhist philosophy and meditation, and has co-authored a book with the Dalai Lama.

One of the biggest everyday travesties of the

paradigm we're all fumbling around within is the way that we think of ourselves

and our consciousness. We are not brought up being taught that we are walking, talking manifestations of raw perfect unshaped

consciousness and that there are tools to access that and shape that. Instead we mistakenly label ourselves as our collective

experiences and actions, our physical body, our grades, our salary, whatever. And on some level, I think we all know that we are not those things,

that those things are just a construct.

But we don't have the tools to deal with that.

And the main tool is meditation,

because it allows us to identify those things.

It allows us to see our habituations, our neuroses, and the

thought noise for what it is. And it's a huge misconception. It doesn't take years

either. You start to see these things on the first try, really.
