Summary

The ceremonial first pitch is a tradition almost as old as baseball itself, with presidents, celebrities and non-MLB athletes taking to the mound to aim for home plate. But the only person who may truly care about any first pitch…is the one throwing it, with the gut-wrenching feeling that they might biff. Our very own Mina Kimes will be in that position soon, throwing a first pitch for her beloved Seattle Mariners. So we called up MLB Insider Jeff Passan and enlisted legendary pitching coach Tom House to help us understand just what Mina’s getting into. Learn more about your ad choices. 1:24.4

The right hander, L duke or land over and end it.

1:27.2

A guy who is fun to watch and hard to hit at high leg kick, very deceptive.

1:34.1

And we should be clear to Jeff, right?

1:35.9

This is something that people dream of doing.

1:39.0

It is something you reward people with except in reality, it's sort of like rewarding them

with a seat inside of a dunk tank.

1:48.8

It's there for you to be more likely than not, utterly humiliated.
