Hurricane Milton made landfall last night near Siesta Key, Florida as a category 3 storm

with winds of 120 miles per hour.

DailyWire senior editor Cabot Phillips has the latest.

Over 3 million people remain in the dark today as crews work to restore power and the

storm now downgraded to a category one moves off the coast.

Florida is dealing with severe flooding following 10 inches of rain reported

and up to 12 inches more expected.

St. Lucy County has seen 17 tornadoes and several fatalities, according to Sheriff Keith Pearson,

with rescue efforts ongoing and hundreds of homes destroyed. In Tampa, over 100 residents were rescued

from an assisted living facility as

emergency crews navigated waste deep water. Governor Ron DeSantis noted that the

state has not officially confirmed any fatalities yet but acknowledged the

situation remains fluid.

My sense would be we're probably in the hundreds of rescues statewide so far.

I think you're going to see, because we had more inland flooding, you're going to see some floods happen in the ensuing

days and you may have to have some people go in and do some rescues there so I

think you may see it be ongoing.
